Dear all,
As all of you know, one of the activities that we will be carrying out at the various elderly homes is to teach the elderly how to fold various types of origami. I know that over the last 2 trainings we have been teaching you how to fold them, and i apologise for the late dismissal on friday, 29/10/10. For those that are still unsure of how to fold the 5 types of orgami, please do look at the video clips posted. If you have lost your origami paper, just take any piece of square paper to practice on. We will be issuing new origami paper on that day.
ALL CADETS ARE EXPECTED TO MASTER ALL 5 TYPES OF ORIGAMI!
Some of you may ask why we want to teach origami to the elderly. You think that they will must probably be unable to succeed in folding them. To a certain extent, you are right. Most of the elderly will not be able to fold the small pieces of origami paper into bautiful shapes, which is why you willbe there to hep them. What you can do is maybe to align an hold the paper nicely, then ask them to press it down to fold it. Although folding origami is a difficult task for them, the objective of us teaching them is to reassure them that despite their old age, they are still capable of doing such handicraft. Most elderly at their age will feel useless, thinking that they can no longer do as many things as they can as compared to when they were young, so our aim is to give their self-confidence back to them. We hope to change their negative mindset. Therefore i hope that all of you will do your best and teach them with a sincere heart.
